On Saturday players were given another shot to make their case for a spot on the Green Bay Packers opening day roster in the final preseason game with the Buffalo Bills. Green Bay lost the game 19-0, but made a couple trips to the redzone. The two teams used vastly different approaches, as the Packers sat over 30 players and the Bills played their starters for a majority of the first half. In the first half, Packers quarterback Jordan Love and Bills quarterback went head-to-head. Love had an ill-advised throw go for an interception in the first half but otherwise finished with some promising completions and a statline of 12-18 with 149 yards. Allen had himself a good first half, going 20-26 with 194 yards and two touchdowns.
In the game, Mason Crosby also punted for the first time in his NFL career as JK Scott dealt with a cramp. The Packers will open their season on September 12th when they visit New Orleans. Kickoff is at 3:25 PM. The Packers will be monitoring an injury to pass rusher Za’Darius Smith, which could keep him out of at least game one.
