Packers trim roster to 80

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers officially made the moves they deemed necessary to get the roster down to a required 80 players on Tuesday. To shed a few roster spots, the Packers first surprised some by releasing second-year linebacker Kamal Martin. Shortly after the Packers traded cornerback Ka’dar Hollman, who is heading into his third season, to the Houston Texans for a seventh-round draft pick.

Other official moves on Tuesday include releasing defensive tackle Josh Avery and tight end Daniel Crawford. The Packers also had to place one of their valuable special teams players, Will Redmond, on injured reserve. On Tuesday August 31st, twenty-seven players will have their time on the active roster end for now as Green Bay will have to get down to 53 players.
