Texans run over Packers in preseason opener

The  Green Bay Packers could not get much going on offense Saturday night in its 26-7 loss to the Houston Texans.

 

After holding the Texans to just a field goal in the first quarter, Jordan Love turned in his most impressive drive of the game, ending it with a 22-yard pass to Kylin Hill to make it 7-3. The Texans would score 23 unanswered points thanks to a touchdown by Scottie Phillips at the end of the first half and a 25-yard touchdown run by Darius Jackson. Ka'im Fairbarn kicked four field goals in the contest. The Texans outgained the Packers 170-49 on the ground. Love was 12 for 17 for 122 yards and a touchdown, many of which came on his touchdown drive in the second quarter. Both Love and Kurt Benkert were guilty of one turnover in the game for the Packers.

 

The Packers return to action at Lambeau Field for a 3:25 p.m. game against the New York Jets.
