After a COVID-induced layoff, Algoma's Shanty Days Celebration is once again prepared to host its seventh Battle on the Beach Volleyball Tournament.
The Pool Play Round Robin style Tournament creates a bracket-style playoff tournament with every team guaranteed at least 7 matches consisting of 2 games per match. Volleyball teams will be welcomed with a softer surface to play on this year thanks to a motorized sand rake used by the city at Crescent Beach to remove bigger pieces of debris.
Organizer Levi Zeitler says the biggest change over the seven years of the event's existence is the number of teams and how far they travel.
