Dries, Welinski Ink New NHL Contracts

Former Gamblers forward Sheldon Dries and defenseman Andy Welinski have new NHL contracts.

 

Dries signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks. He appeared in 40 games with the Colorado Avalanche in 2018-19, recording three goals and three assists.  In 2019-20, Dries spent most of the season in the American Hockey League with the Avalanche’s top affiliate the Colorado Eagles. With the Eagles, Dries recorded 21 goals and 14 assists.  This past year, Dries appeared in three games with the Avalanche.  Dries played two full seasons in Green Bay (2011-13) leading the Gamblers to the Anderson and Clark Cups in 2012.

 

Welinski signed a one-year contract with the Calgary Flames. He has appeared in 46 NHL games with the Anaheim Ducks over the past three seasons.  Welinski tallied his career NHL goal in 2019 versus Calgary. Welinski has appeared in 161 games in the American Hockey League tallying 104 points with the San Diego Gulls and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Welinksi played two full seasons in Green Bay, leading the Gamblers to the 2012 Anderson and Clark Cups.  In 2012, Welinski was named the Dave Tyler Player of the Year, USHL Defenseman of the Year and All-USHL 1st team.
