Gamblers end skid

It was tough sledding for the Green Bay Gamblers the past couple weeks, who fell to third place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings, but a Saturday win could change that. In a 4-2 victory over Team USA started slowly when Green Bay would outshoot Team USA 15 to 5 in the first period, but the first intermission would happen with no team on the scoreboard yet.

In the second period, it was Team USA drawing first blood. Green Bay would knot the game up with a goal by Damien Carfagna with just over four minutes to go in the period. The Gamblers would quickly explode for two more with an Alex Servagno goal and a goal by John Mittlestadt, both before the second period ended. Going into the second intermission, Winnipeg would lead 3-1.

Cam Thiesing would put the game out of reach with a power play goal right around the halfway mark of the third period. Team USA would score once more in the third but it would not be enough. For Green Bay, Mason Lohrei recorded two assists and Matt Davis had 26 saves. The Gamblers would come away with a 4-2 victory, and end a four game slide. The Gamblers take the ice on Sunday against Waterloo at the Resch Center. Puck drop is at 5:05 PM.
