Booyah make pair of roster additions

With opening day slotted for June 1st, the Green Bay Booyah baseball team has been busy filling out their roster. Joining the Booyah squad from the University of Richmond is Johnny Hipsman, who chases down fly balls in the outfield. The Northwoods Baseball League club also sought infield help, gaining Brendan Ryan, who is now set to play collegiately at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, after spending a year at Johnson County Community College.

Neither are strangers to the Northwoods League. Hipsman appeared in 22 games for the Traverse City Pit Spitters last Summer, collecting a .230 batting average, crossing the plate 14 times and swinging for 12 RBIs. The speedster also stole second base 14 times out of the 16 times he took the chance. Hipsman was a 2019 Atlantic 10 All-Freshman team member and has a collegiate career batting average of .324.

Also no stranger to bouncing around the map to play baseball, Ryan played in 15 games last season in the Northwoods league. Ryan has played for both the Great Lakes Resorters and two games for the Northern Michigan Dune Bears. Last season was shortened due to the pandemic, but Ryan still had 58 at-bats, and posted a .224 batting average. Ryan committed to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi baseball team this Spring and in six games, Ryan was hot at the plate as he was hitting .375 and had an on-base percentage of .500. Ryan was originally a Saluki, beginning his college career at Southern Illinois University.
