The Milwaukee Brewers used the Scottsdale, AZ sun to heat up their bats as they advanced their record to 4-2 in Spring Training with a 12-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. Aside from a three-run home run from Colorado’s Trevor Story in the bottom of the third inning that started the game’s scoring, the Crew was able to hold the Rockies scoreless the rest of the way. 

The Brewers tied the game up in the top of the fourth inning with a three-run home run from Derek Fisher. A two-RBI double by Orlando Arcia and a three-run homer from Zach Green created a five-run 5th inning for Milwaukee. Garrett Mitchell hit a grounder that found the gap in centerfield and got on base with a single that scored one insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 9-3. Other runs for the Brewers came in the top of the ninth when Payton Henry homered on a solo shot and Nick Kahle wrapped up the scoring sending the ball over the fence. 

While Corbin Burnes took the bump to start at pitcher for the Brewers, it was Jordan Zimmerman who earned the win tonight, despite giving up a three-run home run. The Rockies Carlos Estevez was credited with today’s loss. The Brewers used a wide array of pitchers in today’s Spring Training contest. While the Brewers are two games above .500 in the practice season, the Rockies fall to 2-2. While it won’t have the same regular season intensity, the Brewers will face off against the rival Chicago Cubs, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:10 P.M. on Saturday.
