Green Bay in search of first win

The Green Bay Phoenix mens’ basketball team will suit up on Saturday in part of a weekend pair of Horizon League games at the Wright State Raiders.

The Phoenix will find themselves searching for their first win in conference and this season. Green Bay is coming off a tough pair of conference losses from last weekend when they faced Milwaukee at home. Phoenix head coach Will Ryan is searching for his first win in the program while Wright State has collected a 4-1 record and a 2-0 record in conference play.

Green Bay has faced a tough schedule throughout the first six games and has shown grit with Josh Jefferson and Amari Davis at the helm on offense, both rank inside the top 10 in Horizon League scoring. The Phoenix will also have some help from newcomer Donavan Moore after the NCAA Division I Council voted earlier this week that he is immediately eligible to play. Moore comes from Toledo after a 2019-2020 freshman campaign that saw him play in 8 games while shooting 55% from the field. Moore will be joined by another transfer in Emmanuel Ansong. The Division II transfer was coached by Ryan last season at Wheeling and averaged 14.4 points per game while leading his team to a 14-13 record. Moore and Ansong will look to contribute immediately to help fend off the conference preseason favorite Raiders this weekend. Green Bay will tip-off at 3 pm.
