Packers, Panthers Saturday night special

The Green Bay Packers kickoff week 15 against the Carolina Panthers for a Saturday night special at Lambeau Field.

The Packers are coming off a NFC North division win over Detroit while the Panthers sit at 4-9 and are coming off a high scoring loss to Denver. Green Bay has already clinched the NFC North division and will look to maintain the first seed for the only first-round bye in the NFC playoff picture. ESPN’s Steve Reed caught recent remarks from the Packers top receiver Davante Adams: “Winning two football games at home and then playing in the Super Bowl, that’s crystal clear, that’s kind of the message we’ve had for the past week or two.” Adams enters this matchup with an opportunity to catch a touchdown pass for his ninth consecutive game. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is also embarking on a stellar season that has shown similar statistical numbers in the years he won NFL MVP in 2011 and 2014.

Panthers first year head coach Matt Rhule has lost the last seven of his eight games but the last two games have been one-score losses. Green Bay is riding a four-game win streak against NFC opponents and is 10-6 all-time against the Panthers. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will look for his team to try to avoid any special-teams breakdowns that have given them troubles lately. Green Bay has allowed a kickoff return touchdown and a punt return touchdown in the last two games, both were over 70 yards. Green Bay will kick off at 7:15pm and look to improve to 11-3.
