Packers clinched NFC North

The Green Bay Packers picked up another conference victory over the division adversary hosting Detroit Lions, 31-24. The win clinched the NFC North on Sunday afternoon and guaranteed playoff security. Green Bay kicked off to Detroit to start the game and the Lions capitalized with a game opening scoring drive to take an early touchdown lead. Green Bay fired right back with a 56-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams. The Green Bay defense put together a stop that led to an offensive score by Marquez Valdes-Scantling who landed his fifth touchdown catch of the season. The remaining minutes of the first half resulted in a 14-14 score after the Packers defensive unit stopped the Lions from a last moment score. The Packers received the ball to start the second half and gathered an early 14-play drive score for 75 yards, capped off by a 6 yard quarterback keeper by Rodgers. The Packers posted 17 points in the second half which qualified for a win. In further news the New Orleans Saints fell to the Philadelphia Eagles, giving the Packers sole possession of the number one seed in the National Football Conference playoff picture. The Packers improved to 5-1 in the NFC North division and will play in six days on Saturday evening against the Carolina Panthers.
