The Wisconsin Badgers suffer first loss of the season and fall out of first place in the Big Ten West Conference standings. 

The Badgers could not find a way to beat the Northwestern Wildcats Saturday night but instead beat themselves with 5 turnovers to Northwestern's 1. The game started with a Wildcat strike from quarterback  Peyton Ramsey, but the Badgers fired right back with a Graham Mertz passing touchdown to receiver Chimere Dike. The Badgers remained scoreless the rest of the first half while Northwestern scored another passing touchdown to go ahead 14-7 heading into the locker room. The second half was a defensive battle between both teams resulting in a scoreless effort by the Badgers while Northwestern tacked on a fourth quarter field goal to go up 17-7 which ended up being the final score. The Badgers committed eight penalties that went for 89 yards, including 4 pass interferences, 3 of them coming in the first half. Wisconsin’s loss puts them at 2-1 overall, good enough for second place in the Big Ten conference. The Badgers look to bounce back next weekend when they face off for the border axe battle against Minnesota.
