High school athletes and their parents received good news from a UW study on Thursday regarding the spread of COVID-19 at sporting events.
According to a study conducted by the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health concluded participation in high school sports in Wisconsin has not led to an increase in COVID-19 infections among high school student-athletes so far this fall. The sampling comes from about 30,000 student-athletes in the state with only one positive COVID-19 case being traced back to sports. With an incidence rate of 0.5 percent, that puts it below the average for other 14-17-year-olds statewide. The study points to the mitigation efforts of WIAA member schools for protecting their student-athletes. You can read more about the study by clicking this link.
