Fall 50 course marked

Race organizers are not encouraging it, but Fall 50 runners can still follow the course if they would like.

An email sent to participants Monday said every turn and mile marker for the solo and team relay event is still marked despite the event being canceled last month. The course will follow what was approved for this year's event, which was slated to start further north than usual at the Washington Island Ferry dock and finish on the Michigan Street Bridge. The course had to be changed for 2020 due to flooding in the finish line area and no permits for the race legs inside Peninsula State Park. For those wishing to tackle the miles, runners are encouraged to dress in layers due to the expected cold temps, wear bright colors, be cautious of motorists, bring your own fluids and snacks, and have a face mask handy if you plan to step inside one of the local businesses. Medals and hoodies for registered participants have been put in the mail with an expected arrival set for later this week.

Last year, 450 teams, 12 pairs, and 77 solo runners participated in the popular event.
