Packers' Rookie Krys Barnes Standing Out

After being gashed for 285 rushing yards in the NFC title game in San Francisco, it was evident that the Packers needed to improve their defense. Little did anyone know that the help would come from undrafted rookie linebacker Krys Barnes. After Green Bay signed free agent Christian Kirksey and drafted Kamal Martin, Krys Barnes was an afterthought. Martin went down in training camp with a meniscus injury and Kirksey has been out with a shoulder injury. Barnes has filled that hole wonderfully as PFF(Pro Football Focus) put him on their All-Rookie team through the first month. Pro Football Focus grades every player on every snap of each game. The undrafted rookie from UCLA is the second-highest graded rookie linebacker behind only Patrick Queen who was selected in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens. Barnes is second on the team with 25 total tackles. The Packers are off this week with a bye and will be heading down to Tampa Bay next week to take on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are 3-2 and coming off a devastating 20-19 on Thursday to the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have split the previous two games played against each other.
