When the Big Ten college football season kicks off, the Wisconsin Badgers football team may be without their starting quarterback. With the season opener less than three weeks away, quarterback Jack Coan suffered an injury to his right foot in practice that required surgery. There is no timetable for when Coan could possibly return. Coan threw for 2,727 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions last year. The Badgers will now look to redshirt-freshman Graham Mertz as they prepare for Illinois.
The Badgers host the Fighting Illini on October 24.
