Runners will have to wait next spring to compete in the Door County Half Marathon.
The Peninsula Pacers made the decision on Wednesday to completely cancel the 2020 edition of the event after originally shifting it from its traditional May start. The group cited the logistical challenges with the race and the complications COVID-19 has caused for the reason for the cancelation. The race depends on shuttle buses to get hundreds of runners to the start line inside Peninsula State Park and have to rely on hundreds of volunteers and medical professionals to make the race possible. The Peninsula Pacers have already had to cancel their Hey Hey 5k and Peninsula Century bike rides.
