Twenty-pounders hit century mark in K/D Tournament

Three trophy fish moved into the top 10 Monday, including a new second-place giant for Jacob Junion at Baileys Harbor (28.35 pounds) and an amazingly-long chinook (45 inches) that weighed 27.96 pounds at Sturgeon Bay. While a "king" that long would normally be well over 30 pounds, it’s still an absolutely fantastic catch for Lynn Bergan!

Interestingly, the top five fish currently represent all five of the weigh-in ports: Algoma, Baileys Harbor, Washington Island, Sturgeon Bay and Kewaunee. There are already more than 100 20-pound-plus salmon on the leaderboard, and the top 60 are all heavier than 23 pounds.

Ever-changing winds continue to challenge K/D anglers. Several days of powerful southeast and west winds upwelled cold water from the depths and had surface temperatures drop more than 20 degrees from Saturday, with strong currents. On Monday, the wind switched to the northwest, then settled nicely from the north/northeast in the afternoon. Light and variable winds tonight are expected to give way to moderate southeast tomorrow, then light to moderate from the north on Wednesday. There’s a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.
