In a match that serves as a measuring stick heading into tournament play, the Sturgeon Bay soccer team left Green Bay with a 1-0 win over the Preble Hornets.

Head coach Jesus Mejia called it an amazing game with both teams going back and forth, creating chances.

"We fought incredibly hard and made it difficult for Preble to break us down," Mejia said after the match. "The boys had some incredible ball movement and defended really well."

With CB JJ Olson out, Mejia added the bench played a major role in the team securing the victory.

The Clippers will try to ward off Algoma on Monday and Peshtigo on Thursday to secure a share of the Packerland Conference crown while turning its focus to the tournament. They are slated to play the winner of Roncalli and Gresham/Bowler. A regional final matchup with Gibraltar/Sevastopol and NEW Lutheran is possible.
