Sturgeon Bay earned a 3-1 victory over Gibraltar on Thursday night, winning 25-18, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-16.

Audrey Harrington led Sturgeon Bay offensively with 15 kills on 27 attempts without a hitting error, finishing with an impressive .556 hitting percentage. Harrington also led the team defensively with 9 digs and added an ace from the service line.

Izzy Schoeneman had another strong performance at the net, finishing with 13 kills on 19 attempts and a .579 hitting percentage.

Setter Makenna Coyhis directed the Sturgeon Bay offense with 42 assists while also contributing 3 kills and a team-high 3 aces.

Sturgeon Bay also received strong contributions from the service line and back row. Jericha Reynolds and Reen Walker each recorded 2 aces. Walker finished with 7 digs, while Reynolds added 6.

After Gibraltar edged Sturgeon Bay 26-24 in the second set to even the match at one set apiece, Sturgeon Bay responded decisively. The Clippers controlled the third set, 25-13, before closing out the match with a 25-16 victory in the fourth.

The Vikings were led by Ella Clarke (8 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks), Isla Fagundes (22 assists, 3 aces, 7 digs), Ema Collak (8 kills), and Azucena Jauregui (4 kills, 12 digs). Head coach Lauren Ward complimented the skill of the Clippers and the effort of her Vikings. "While we were able to rally back that second set, we just didn't have an answer for their outside attacks," Ward said. "We put up a good effort - there was some really great digs from my Jauregui trio in the back row, and we had some good blocks that didn't drop for the kill, but all around defensively I was pleased with our play. Unfortunately, their triple block kept our middles from racking up the kills."
