The Kewaunee Storm would jump to an early lead and never look back Friday night, taking down the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 51-0 on U102.1.
The Clippers would receive the opening kickoff, but would go three-and-out, punting the ball to the Storm. Good field position would help Diesel Bosdeck continue his quality leadership of the Storm offense as they marched down the field, and capped the drive with an 11-yard Bosdeck touchdown. After the Clippers went three-and-out again, Bosdeck would add a 25-yard touchdown run to put the Storm up 13-0 after a blocked extra point kick at the end of the first quarter.
The Clippers and Storm each had trouble holding on to the ball in the second quarter. The first turnover of the game came as a Storm turnover when an option pitch between Bosdeck and Blake Temme hit the ground and allowed Sturgeon Bay to recover.
A Clipper turnover was a little more costly as Rayshaune Johnson was not expecting a quick pass from Trygg Stuth, allowing Baylor Elliot to pick it off and follow his convoy of blockers to lead him 49 yards for the pick 6 putting the Storm up 21-0.
Chaos would ensue late in the half. In the closing minutes, the Storm would score twice in very quick succession as first, a 44-yard pass from Bosdeck to Peyton Schaller put the Storm up 28-0. On the Clippers' first play of the ensuing drive, Clipper RB Johnson would fumble, leading to a Dane Harrell score on the first play of the Storm drive, which sent the game into a 35-0 score and a running clock the rest of the way out.
Halftime however gave those in attendance for both sides plenty to cheer about as the Sturgeon Bay Athletic Hall of Fame inducted its 2026 class. The class included, Roger Crass, Giz Herbst, Mark Ostrand, John Geitner, D.J. LeRoy, Marylee (Bushman) Gruse, Chris Greisen, Nick Greisen, and Sierra Smalley.
Any hope the Clippers had of stopping the running clock was dashed almost immediately, as the opening kick of the second half was taken for a 70-yard touchdown. While the game was still a blowout, things could have gone even worse for the Clippers. The Clippers would choose to enforce a 5-yard penalty on the Storm, opting to re-kick. Rather than making the Storm start their drive at the Storm 41, the move would not work out for the Clippers, as the ensuing punt would be blocked, setting Kewaunee up at the Clipper 18 instead. Disaster was averted, though, as on the first play of the Storm drive, Bosdeck would be intercepted by Sturgeon Bay's Vince Laughlin in the endzone for a touchback. Adding to the Storm's big night would be a 7-yard run by Blake Temme, and a 30-yard field goal by AJ Spranger on the Storm's final drive of the game.
The Storm are on the road once again next week as they take on the Southern Door Eagles, while the Clippers play host to Oconto Falls.
