Clippers volleyball sweeps away the Storm

The Sturgeon Bay varsity volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance tonight, earning a 3-0 sweep over Kewaunee, 25-13, 25-15, and 25-23.

The Clippers came out firing in the opening set, controlling the match early with aggressive serving, solid passing, and efficient offense. Sturgeon Bay continued that momentum into the second set with another convincing 25-15 win.

Kewaunee made a push in the third, but Sturgeon Bay stayed composed in a much tighter set. With the score close down the stretch, the Clippers were able to finish the match with a 25-23 victory to complete the sweep.

Offensively, Sturgeon Bay received contributions from several hitters. Izzy Schoeneman led the attack with 12 kills, while Reen Walker added 9 kills and Audrey Harrington finished with 8 kills. Auna Anderson added four kills, and Leah Hansen contributed two.

The setters also kept the offense moving throughout the night. Makenna Coyhis recorded 32 assists, while Prudence Goettleman added three.

Defensively, Sturgeon Bay had contributions throughout the lineup: Audrey Harrington with 6 digs, Reen Walker with 5, Jericha Reynolds with 5 as well, and others helping keep rallies alive and transition the Clippers back into their offense. It was noticeable against Kewaunee the improvement in our blocking, coverage, and attacking as a team.

One of the most encouraging parts of the night was Sturgeon Bay’s ability to win in different ways. The Clippers dominated the first two sets, then showed composure when Kewaunee challenged them late in the third. The 25-23 finish gave Sturgeon Bay a complete three-set victory and another positive step forward as the season continues.

Final: Sturgeon Bay def. Kewaunee, 25-13, 25-15, 25-23 (3-0).
