The Sturgeon Bay varsity volleyball team put together a strong night Tuesday, Sept. 1, going 2-0 at the Seymour triangular with victories over host Seymour and Little Chute.

 

The Clippers opened the night with a convincing 25-12, 25-18 sweep of Seymour before battling back from a first-set loss to defeat Little Chute 17-25, 25-15, 15-3.

 

Against Seymour, Sturgeon Bay’s offense was led by Audrey Harrington with 10 kills, while Izzy Schoeneman added nine. Auna Anderson contributed three kills, Prudence Goettleman finished with two, and Makenna Coyhis and Reen Walker each added one.

 

Coyhis directed the offense with 26 assists in the two-set victory. Defensively, Walker led the Clippers with nine digs, followed by Coyhis with seven. Harrington and Schoeneman each recorded five digs, while Jericha Reynolds added four.

 

Sturgeon Bay finished the Seymour match with 26 kills, 26 assists and 31 digs.

 

The Clippers were tested in their second match of the night after Little Chute took the opening set 25-17. Sturgeon Bay responded decisively, taking the second set 25-15 before dominating the deciding third set 15-3.

 

Schoeneman led the attack against Little Chute with 13 kills, while Harrington finished with six. Goettleman and Anderson each contributed four kills, and Walker added two.

 

Coyhis again ran the offense, recording 29 assists. Harrington led the defensive effort with eight digs, Reynolds added seven, and Walker and Schoeneman each finished with six.

 

Serving also played a major role in the comeback. Walker recorded a match-high five aces, including four in the decisive third set. Sturgeon Bay totaled nine aces against Little Chute.

 

For the entire triangular, Schoeneman led Sturgeon Bay with 22 kills, while Harrington finished with 16. Coyhis totaled 55 assists across the two matches, and Walker contributed 15 digs and five aces.

The Clippers finished the night 2-0, showing offensive balance and the ability to respond under pressure, particularly in their strong finish against Little Chute.

 

They will now play their first Packerland Conference match at home on Thursday against Oconto. The Blue Devils have opened the season 4-1, including a split of their two matches with Elcho and Adams-Friendship last weekend. The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
