Clippers shut out United in regional semifinal on U-102.1

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer team dispatched their local rival Door County United 4-0 in the regional semifinal on Thursday to advance to Saturday's regional final in Oshkosh.

 

Faith Lemke scored the match's first goal in the fourth minute before both team's tightened the screws defensively for the next 50 minutes. Makenna Coyhis helped break the flood gates in the second, scoring the first of her two goals in the 58th minute before Jericha Reynolds had her breakthrough in the 63rd minute.

 

 

Coyhis finished off the brace and the match's scoring with a goal in the 74th minute. Senior Yarrow Goettelman led the Clippers' backline that helped her sister Prudence earn a clean sheet.

 

 

The Clippers are back in action on Saturday night at 7 p.m. when they battle Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian at UW-Oshkosh's Titan Stadium.
