Sturgeon Bay closed out its regular season with a 6-3 nonconference loss to Kiel on Tuesday in a game that slipped away after being tied twice.
The Clippers (6-17 overall) kept pace early, answering Kiel’s opening run to tie the game at 1-1 and later rallying again to even it at 3-3. However, the Raiders broke through in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to take control and secure the win.
Drew Propsom led Sturgeon Bay offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Rylan Ruenger added patience at the plate, drawing two walks as part of the Clippers’ seven free passes. Despite the offensive effort, Kiel’s aggressive baserunning proved decisive, as the Raiders tallied seven stolen bases.
Caden Milbrath paced Kiel, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Andrew Kleinhans earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs over five innings of work.
Sturgeon Bay utilized a committee approach on the mound, sending six pitchers to the hill. Siggy Hansen got the start for the Clippers.
With the regular season complete, Sturgeon Bay turns its attention to the postseason. The Clippers will travel to Coleman on Thursday for a WIAA Division 3 playoff game scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
