Sailing through its season, the Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer team returned home to defend its pitch against conference adversary Providence Academy.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw in what proved to be an exciting, hard-fought battle, with both teams evenly matched throughout. The Paladins’ goal came on a penalty kick, while the lone goal for the Clippers was scored by sophomore Barbara Alberti on a well-placed header off a corner kick from senior Yarrow Goettleman.
Clippers goalkeeper Prudence Goettleman added six saves, yielding only the penalty shot on the evening.
The Clippers return to the pitch Saturday, May 16, for a tournament in Kiel.
