The Sturgeon Bay softball team makes the trip south on Tuesday to battle Kewaunee in Packerland Conference action.
The Clippers had a tough set of games Saturday, first facing Chilton and losing 16-1. McKenna Poh took the loss in the circle in Game 1. Bristol Will, Kadence Patza and Cora Frangipane each singled for Sturgeon Bay. In Game 2, Sturgeon Bay fell to Wrightstown 19-1, with Bristol Will taking the loss. Cora Frangipane and Genevieve Austad had the Clippers’ only hits. Austad threw out a runner at third base with help from Frangipane, while Auna Anderson read the ball well off the bat in left field in both games for Sturgeon Bay.
In their last action, the Storm claimed the first game 3-2 behind timely hitting and strong pitching from Ali Repitz and Breanna Riha. Repitz earned the win after allowing two runs on five hits over four innings while striking out five. Riha tossed three scoreless innings in relief to secure the victory. Kewaunee collected 10 hits in the opener, led by Riha and Vivian Bootz with two apiece. Schleis, Last and Repitz each drove in runs, while the Storm played error-free defense. Peshtigo responded with a 9-3 win in the nightcap behind a 15-hit performance. Repitz and Vivian Bootz each drove in runs for Kewaunee. The Storm finished with six hits.
