Clippers baseball splits Chilton triangular

Saturday was a mixed bag for the Sturgeon Bay baseball team, beating Howards Grove 9-8 and getting shutout by host Chilton 14-0.

In their 14-0 loss to the Tigers, six Clippers errors marred the game for their pitchers. Jack Higginbotham, Rylan Ruenger, and Elijah Van Eperen gave up 14 runs, but only seven of those runs were earned. Higginbotham, Dom Blish, and Leathem Vogel managed the lone hits in the game for the Clippers.

In their 9-8 victory over the other Tigers, Steven Prescott led the way with a 3-5, two RBI peformance. The Tigers tied the game in the seventh inning at four apiece before the teams combined to score nine runs in the eighth inning. The Clippers scored five in their half of the inning with Drew Propsom and Prescott registering run-scoring hits. The Tigers had the bases loaded with four runs already in when Ruenger was able to record the final out on a pop fly to Higginbotham.

The Clippers are back in action on Tuesday when they play a doubleheader at Kewaunee. Eric Fischer will have the call of game two on 104.1 WRLU beginning at 5:30 p.m.
