The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer team extended their winning streak to seven matches Friday night with a 1-0, blank sheet victory over Fox Valley Lutheran in Appleton.
Freshman Jericha Reynolds scored the lone goal of the match as the Clippers continued their strong stretch of play during the regular season.
Defensively, Sturgeon Bay held firm throughout the contest behind goalkeeper Prudence Goettelman, who recorded 12 saves to secure the shutout victory. Fox Valley Lutheran pressured the Clippers throughout the night, but Goettelman and the Sturgeon Bay defense turned away every scoring opportunity.
The win adds to the Clippers’ recent momentum as the team continues to climb through the latter part of the schedule.
Sturgeon Bay will try to keep the lengthy winning streak alive Tuesday afternoon when it travels to face the Kewaunee Storm on their pitch.
