The Sturgeon Bay Clippers earned an exciting 8-7 road win tonight over NEW Lutheran. Bristol Will went the distance, earning the win on the mound with six strikeouts.
The Clippers totaled 10 hits, led by Kennedy Hoernke with two singles. Izzy Schoeneman, Audrey Harrington, Eden Hesler, Auna Anderson, Sophia Sternard, Keira Wesley and Genevieve Austad each added a single.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Austad drew a walk, stole second base and advanced to third on an overthrow. After a patient at-bat by Cora Frangipane, Austad scored on a wild pitch.
In the top of the seventh inning, with the tying run in scoring position, Austad threw out the runner at third.
The Clippers are back in action at home on Tuesday when they play a twinbill against Peshtigo at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs are 9-5 on the season with four straight win, outscoring their opponents in the last three games by a 49-2.
