Clippers Earn Split, Walk Off Gibraltar and Coach Henrigillis Reaches 100 Wins

Sturgeon Bay and Gibraltar/Washington Island split a high-scoring doubleheader Friday night, with each team mounting dramatic rallies in a back-and-forth matchup.

Gibraltar/Washington Island claimed the opener 17-7 behind a dominant performance from Cam Munao, who went 5-for-5 at the plate. The Vikings erased an early 4-0 deficit and broke the game open with an eight-run fifth inning before adding seven more runs in the sixth.

Aaron Brey earned the win, allowing six runs (three earned) over five innings while striking out six. Siggy Hansen took the loss for Sturgeon Bay, surrendering nine runs, though only two were earned, while striking out six over four innings. Hansen and Drew Propsom each had two hits for the Clippers in the first game.

Sturgeon Bay responded in the nightcap with a dramatic 13-11 walk-off victory, rallying from a four-run deficit and scoring six runs in the fifth inning to secure the split.

With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth, Propsom delivered the decisive blow, ripping a double to drive in the winning runs, including Josh Sargent. Elijah Van Eperen picked up the win in relief.

Jack Higginbotham led the Clippers with three hits, while Steven Prescott added two hits and showed patience at the plate as part of a balanced offensive effort.

Gibraltar jumped out to a big lead earlier in the game, including a seven-run second inning, but Sturgeon Bay clawed back with timely hitting in the late innings.

The win also marked a milestone for Sturgeon Bay coach Neal Henrigillis, who recorded his 100th career victory.

Sturgeon Bay is scheduled to host Green Bay East in its next game, while Gibraltar/Washington Island will face the Clippers again in a rematch later this season.
