Clippers soccer knock off United, face Thunder Tuesday

Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer hosted Sevastopol/Gibraltar United for its first home game of the season Monday afternoon. The Clippers delivered a strong performance in a 5-0 victory, scoring twice in the first half and adding three more goals in the second.

 

Freshman Jericha Reynolds opened the scoring with her 10th goal of the season. Sophomore Barbara Alberti added two goals, while freshman Makenna Coyhis and senior Yarrow Goettelman each scored to complete the scoring. Senior Miya Nell and sophomore Jojo Kerwin each recorded an assist.

 

The Clippers also turned in a strong defensive performance, not allowing a shot on goal.

 

With the win, the Clippers improved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The girls travel to Seymour on Tuesday for a nonconference match against the Thunder at 6 p.m. The United will look to bounce back on Tuesday with a match at home against New Holstein at 5 p.m.
