The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer team settled for a 2-2 draw against St. Mary’s on Saturday, surrendering a two-goal lead after a strong first half.
Sturgeon Bay controlled early play, scoring twice before halftime to take command. But the Clippers lost momentum in the second half as St. Mary’s rallied with two goals to even the match.
Freshman goalkeeper Prudence Goettleman recorded eight saves for Sturgeon Bay, helping the Clippers preserve the tie despite the late pressure.
The draw follows a 2-0 loss to Providence Academy/NEW Lutheran earlier in the week, the Clippers’ first conference defeat of the season.
Sturgeon Bay returns to action Monday, April 27, when it hosts conference opponent Sevastopol Gibraltar United.
