Today, the Sturgeon Bay boys golf team competed in its first Packerland Conference meet of the season at Northbrook in Luxemburg. The team earned first place with a score of 189, narrowly edging Sevastopol by two strokes. The Clippers were led by Ashton Benzinger, who carded a 44, while Aiden Benzinger and Caleb Nielsen each shot 45. It was a true team effort and a great way to start the season on a high note.
The junior varsity team also had a strong showing, finishing second with a score of 212. The JV squad was led by Ben Ash with a 50, followed by Sam Hanson, who shot a 53.
The Clippers are back in action next Monday with a doubleheader at Little River in Peshtigo and Vernon Hills in Oconto.
Kewaunee's Evan Maccaux won the meet with a score of 42 while Gibraltar's Henry Wehrenberg and Jameson Tepe and Sevastopol's Marek O’Dean finished tied for fourth place with a score of 45.
