Clippers' season comes up just short in regional opener

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers saw their season come to an end Tuesday night, falling 59-57 to the Menominee Nation Eagles in a WIAA Division 3 regional matchup.

As the No. 10 seed, Sturgeon Bay (11-14) hit the road to take on the No. 7 seed Eagles (14-11), and the game played out exactly like a postseason battle should. It was tight, physical, and decided in the final minutes.

It was a back-and-forth contest throughout, with neither team able to create steady separation. The Clippers leaned on their senior leadership in key stretches, matching runs and keeping themselves within striking distance late into the second half.

Trailing 59-57 in the closing moments, Sturgeon Bay fought for one final opportunity. However, the Clippers were unable to convert an opportunity when the horn sounded.

Despite the loss, Sturgeon Bay showed the resilience that defined its season, earning 11 wins and securing a postseason berth.

The senior class played a major role in that effort, providing experience and stability throughout the year.

Menominee Nation advances in the Division 3 bracket, while the Clippers close the book on the 2025-26 season just two points shy of a regional semifinal appearance.
