Clippers Host Wolves on U102.1

The Algoma Wolves make the trip north to face the Sturgeon Bay Clippers on Youth Night on Thursday on U102.1 and the NEW Radio Sports Network. This will be the second matchup of the season between the teams, and if the first meeting is any indication, it should be tightly contested.

In the previous meeting on Jan. 6, the Clippers gave the Wolves a run for their money. Neither team held a first-half lead larger than five points. The Wolves took their first lead of the game at 14-12 and led by just one point at halftime, 23-22. Ben Ash led the Clippers in the first half with 10 points.

In the second half, the Wolves led by as many as 10, but the Clippers fought to keep the game close, trailing by just four in the final minutes. Clutch free throw shooting by Charlie Prokash sealed the 59-51 Wolves victory.

Both teams are coming off wins in their previous matchups. Algoma improved to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in conference play after defeating Southern Door on Monday night, led by Parker Lischka’s 19 points, along with 13 each from Braeden Liest and Dylan Seiler.

Sturgeon Bay moved to 4-17 overall and evened its conference record at 9-9 with a Saturday win over Oconto in a makeup of a previously postponed game. The Clippers led throughout, thanks in part to 18 points each from Sam Fruzyna and Ben Ash.

You can tune in for the action by joining Jacob Nate at 6:45 p.m. for the pregame show, followed by the 7 p.m. tipoff on U102.1 and the NEW Radio Sports Network.
