The Sturgeon Bay Clippers used their defense to power past nearby rival Sevastopol on Monday night, earning a 70-44 victory.
The Clippers held an 11-9 edge in steals and limited the Pioneers to just 33% shooting from the field, including 20% from 3-point range. Meanwhile, Sturgeon Bay shot 44% from the field and 29% from beyond the arc.
Monday’s win was the Clippers’ second straight after snapping a four-game losing skid with a victory over Green Bay East last week. On the other side, the Pioneers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.
Both teams remain in conference play Friday, with Sevastopol welcoming Algoma and Sturgeon Bay traveling to Brussels to take on Southern Door. Jacob Nate will call the Clippers-Eagles game on U-102.1 beginning at 6:45 p.m., followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
