Clippers girls knock off Vikings on the road

The Sturgeon Bay girls basketball team secured another conference win on Monday, this time beating Gibraltar 43-34 in Fish Creek.

The Clippers rode the momentum of a 10-3 run to close the first half to victory, outscoring the Vikings 29-19 after the break. Key to the comeback win was Makenna Coyhis, who scored all eight of her points in the second half to provide Regan Kasten support with her 11 points. In addition, Cora Frangipane, Prudence Goettelman, and Sophia Sternard each scored six points. Head coach Rachel Miller praised her team's defense, pointing out the steals, rebounds, charges, and non-stop pressure that set a tone the entire game. "This game was all about lockdown defense, hustle plays, and relentless effort — the kind of win that shows heart and grit!," Miller said.

The Vikings were balanced offensively with Azucena Jauregui's eight points and six points a piece from Celeste Jauregui, Megan Schar, and Gabi Solomon.
