His senior season is only a few weeks old, but Sturgeon Bay/Sevasopol wrestler Spencer Madsen is ensuring his name will be remembered for years to come.
Two records fell during his 5-0 run through the Brillion Invitational that saw him collect four pins and a technical fall en route to Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament accolades.
In his final match of the day, Madsen eclipsed Lucas Stephenson's record of 356 takedowns, a mark that has stood for over a decade. Stephenson held the mark since 2014, boasting a 73 takedown edge over the previous leader Cody Stephenson (2012).
Earlier in the day, Madsen passed Derek and Jonas Flok's old mark of 61 career pins. The Floks had held their marks for nearly two decades with Derek tying Jonas' 2005 mark in 2007.
Madsen will most likely break the Wins in a Career record next weekend at Green Bay Preble's invitational. Westosha Central, Kaukauna, Neenah, DC Everest, Pulaski, Chilton, Lomira, Menominee Indian, Mishicot, Ozaukee, Ripon, Waupaca, and Southern Door will also be on the mat when wrestling begins at 9:45 a.m.
