Sturgeon Bay football celebrates senior class Friday night

It was senior night for Sturgeon Bay on Friday as the Clippers honored their four seniors (Andres Rodriguez, Mason Tristani, Dominic Blish and Makale Lucas) in their final home game of the season. Despiste strong effort the Bonduel Bears controlled the game on both sides of the ball, winning 62-0.

Sturgeon Bay showed early energy after recovering a muffed punt near midfield on their opening drive, but Bonduel’s defense held strong and forced a turnover on downs. The Bears’ offense found its rhythm soon after, scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter behind running back Carter Moesch, who recorded all four.

Moesch opened the scoring with a two-yard run before adding a 53-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Quinn Wesenberg and two more rushing scores to put Bonduel ahead 28-0 after one.

The Bears’ defense continued to swarm, capitalizing on turnovers and creating opportunities for their offense. Malachi Gray added a short rushing touchdown and Cory Wussow caught a 44-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 42-0 at halftime.

The Clippers put together one of their best drives late in the second quarter, advancing deep into Bonduel territory on a connection between Trygg Stuth and Alex Boden, but time expired before they could reach the end zone.

In the second half, Bonduel rotated in younger players but maintained momentum. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Niles threw a touchdown pass to Aiden Hillsberg on his first drive and added another to Brayson Peebles later in the third quarter. Tomas VanderZanden capped off the scoring with a fourth-quarter touchdown run to make it 62-0.

The Clippers close the season out winless Friday night, but finish on a high-note celebrating their four impactful seniors.
