Clippers Celebrate Senior Night with 5-Set Thriller Over Southern Door

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers dramatically honored their seniors Thursday night, pulling off a hard-fought five-set victory over county rival Southern Door (25–17, 16–25, 9–25, 25–23, 15–6).

 

The Clippers came out strong in the opening set, but Southern Door battled back to take the next two, putting Sturgeon Bay on the brink. Fueled by the home crowd and the emotion of Senior Night, the Clippers rallied with a gritty 25–23 win in the fourth and dominated the decisive fifth set 15–6.

 

Offensively, Audrey Harrington paced the Clippers with a match-high 13 kills and added two aces. Regan Kasten was efficient at the net, tallying seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage while adding four blocks. Yarrow Goettelman contributed six kills and three aces, swinging aggressively from the pins. Miya Nell chipped in 5 kills, keeping the offense balanced.

 

Defensively, the backcourt was steady all night with Harrington (10 digs), Regan Kasten (5 digs), and Sofie Carmody (4 digs, strong passing) helping the Clippers extend rallies. Goettelman and Kasten combined for multiple key blocks at the net, shifting momentum late in the match.

 

Serving proved pivotal as Goettelman and Schoeneman After dropping sets two and three, the Clippers’ strong serving runs in the fourth and fifth sets sparked the comeback and sealed the match.

 

With the win, Sturgeon Bay builds momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season and postseason play.
