The Sturgeon Bay Clippers earned a key conference victory on Thursday night, defeating Algoma 3–1 (25–16, 25–12, 23–25, 25–16) on the road at Algoma High School.
The Clippers came out strong, controlling the pace early with aggressive serving and balanced offensive play. After taking the first two sets decisively, Algoma battled back in the third, edging out a 25–23 win to extend the match. Sturgeon Bay responded with composure, dominating the fourth set behind steady defense and efficient hitting to close out the match.
Offensively, freshman Izzy Schoeneman powered the offense with a team-high 17 kills, attacking with confidence at the net and keeping Algoma’s defense under pressure. Audrey Harrington followed closely with 16 kills. Miya Nell was highly efficient, finishing with nine kills, while Regan Kasten chipped in 7 kills. Yarrow Goettelman added six kills to round out a balanced attack.
From the service line, the Clippers racked up 12 aces, led by Harrington with 5. Schoeneman not only starred offensively but also anchored the defense with 18 digs. Harrington chipped in 11 digs, Carmody with 7, and Kasten added 6. Strong net play also contributed, with Harrington, Kaste,n and Nell combining for 9 blocks.
