The Sturgeon Bay soccer team took a few minutes to find their rhythm on Monday night, but eventually cruised to a 3-0 win. In the 20th minute, it was a cross from Ismaili to Stephenson who found the net off a header to start the scoring for the Clippers. After that, the Clippers were in control for the majority of the game. In the 40th minute, right before halftime, Jaxzen Bleck used his head for the second goal of the match off a cross from Champeny.
The United started the second half strong, and the Clippers' backline held strong for the next 40 minutes, not conceding any goals. In the 64th minute, Aiden Benzinger was able to put Sturgeon Bay up 3-0, and that's where the contest would end.
Head coach Todd Maas was complimentary of his squad afterwards, saying it was a quality win against an opponent that always makes it a hard fought match. "The guys played a pretty solid match," Maas said. "Well organized, moved the ball, created opportunities for ourselves, good energy, so I would say that's a good win for us."
Sturgeon Bay is back in action Thursday when they travel to Kewaunee and the United are back at home against Algoma.
