Clippers soccer down Wolves on the road

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team gave Algoma its first conference loss on Monday afternoon, beating the Wolves 4-1.

The Clippers took a 2-1 lead into the break and tacked on insurance goals in the second half to secure the Packerland Conference win. Daniel Wienke, Finn Stevenson, Jaylen Reynolds, and Zone Wienke registered goals while Daniel Wienke, Fox, and Joni Ismaili tallied assists.

Head coach Todd Maas credited Wolves coach Dakota Berg and the Wolves squad for their improvement this year. "They have a number of quality players who never give up," Maas added. Hats off to them for putting together a good game."  Maas still believes his team could have played better, and he hopes that with a couple of days of practice after a tough quad performance in Cedarburg, they will be able to reset things.

In other Packerland Conference action on Monday, Gibraltar/Sevatopol put its match against NEW Lutheran in the second half with five goals as they beat the Blazers 8-2 at home.
