The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys soccer team faced tough competition at the Cedarburg Quad over the weekend, finishing 1-1 to move their record to 7-3-1 on the season.
On Friday night, the Clippers went up against Division 1 Germantown and battled in a hard-fought match before falling 1-0. The other Friday matchup saw host Cedarburg edge Milwaukee King 3-2 in a wild contest that was tied 2-2 by the 23rd minute of the first half.
Sturgeon Bay bounced back on Saturday morning with a strong showing, defeating Division 1 Milwaukee King 3-0. The Clippers came out focused and controlled the match throughout, while also shutting down the state’s leading goal scorer, who was held scoreless.
"Our guys came in focused and it showed on the field and in the result," Coach Maas said. "For us to hold their leading scorer in the state to zero was pretty good."
Now the Clippers will take Sunday for recovery before heading back into action Monday with an away game against Algoma. Monday's match will be carried live on U-102.1 with Bryan Mazur and Dylan Kaye on the call.
