A derby between county rivals is set for Thursday night in Fish Creek when Sturgeon Bay makes the trip north to face Gibraltar/Sevastopol.
The Clippers are fresh off of a 5-0 win over Luxemburg-Casco on Tuesday, featuring goals from Joni Ismaili, Will Estes, Simon Downey, Aiden Benzinger, and Daniel Wienke. After going 0-1-1 at The Prairie School over the weekend, Coach Todd Maas said that, “We played more as a team, the ball moved more fluidly, and we made the most of our chances in and around the 18” after entering the second half with a slim 1-0 advantage.
The United have been idle since posting a 2-0 road win against Providence Academy. Their defense was on point for the match, allowing the Paladins just three shots on net.
Last season, both the United and the Clippers won regional titles, which set up a sectional semifinal date that the Clippers won 4-0. In three victories, the Clippers outscored the United 14-3.
Bryan Mazur and Peter Kerwin will have the call on U-102.1 beginning at 6:15 p.m. with the pregame show, followed by the first touch from Gibraltar at 6:30 p.m.
Other soccer matches scheduled for Thursday include Luxemburg-Casco traveling to Clintonville (4:30 p.m.), Kewaunee hosting Providence Academy (4:30 p.m.), and Algoma visiting Peshtigo (4:30 p.m.).
