After what head coach Todd Maas called a “just okay” first half — one that saw plenty of missed chances but still a 1-0 lead — the Sturgeon Bay Clippers (2-1-1) came alive in the second half to close out a 5-0 win over Luxemburg-Casco (0-2) on Tuesday.
The scoring spread around as five different players found the net: Joni Ismaili, Will Estes, Simon Downey, Aiden Benzinger, and Daniel Wienke.
When asked about the turnaround after halftime, Coach Maas said, “We played more as a team, the ball moved more fluidly, and we made the most of our chances in and around the 18.”
Two tough tests await the Clippers later this week with back-to-back matchups against Gibraltar on Thursday and Kiel on Friday. For Luxemburg-Casco, a Thursday contest with Clintonville provides their next chance to rebound.
