It was a busy three days for the Sturgeon Bay boys soccer team, opening their season with three matches in as many days and finishing with a 1-1-1 record.
On Thursday, the Clippers started strong at home with an 8-0 win over Peshtigo. Cedar Tomberlin scored the opener off an assist from Simon Downey, followed by a goal from Daniel Wienke assisted by Finn Stevenson. Will Estes and Jaxzen Bleck also found the net before halftime.
After a halftime adjustment, Sturgeon Bay’s attack looked even sharper. Estes added his second of the day, Stevenson scored twice, and Joni Ismaili capped things off to end the match early at eight goals.
Friday saw a trip to Racine where the Clippers fell 3-1 to The Prairie School, with Tomberlin netting the lone goal.
On Saturday, Sturgeon Bay bounced back with a more organized showing against Division 1 opponent Kenosha Tremper, playing to a 1-1 draw. Estes provided the goal, but Tremper scored late to equalize.
Head coach Todd Maas was encouraged by the growth his team showed across the weekend. “Not the outcomes we wanted, but our team worked hard, learned a lot, and showed many great moments. This is just the beginning of the season, and we’re excited to keep building,” Maas said.
