Another early deficit for the Sturgeon Bay Clippers, this time 28-0 to Antigo, was too much to overcome for the young roster as they dropped to 0-2 on the season Thursday.
Sturgeon Bay would score on a touchdown pass from quarterback and captain Trygg Stuth, making it 28-6, but a failed two-point attempt kept it to six and that's all the closer they would get before the Red Robins ran away with the game.
Just before halftime, Antigo responded with a 77-yard rushing touchdown to make it 34-6 after their own failed PAT.
A few second half turnovers from the Clippers along with drives that stalled early, gave Antigo good field positioning in which they capitalized often. The running game for the Red Robins feasted in the game, scoring three rushing touchdowns in the second half alone.
The Clippers are a young team learning yet another new system under first year head coach Matt Landers so growing pains are expected. They will begin conference play at Marinette next Friday, September 5th where they look to pick up their first win on the season.
