DCU's Monfils captures gold in Marinette

The Door County United Girls Swim Team had a successful kickoff to the season at the Marinette Pentathlon.  In this unique meet format, each swimmer completes a 50 of each of the four strokes (Fly, Back, Breast, and Free) as well as a 100 IM and is ranked based on their overall earned points within their own grade.  The freshmen had a particularly notable day at the pool with Hazel Monfils taking the overall 1st place, Jillan Peterson taking 2nd, and Caralee Fellner taking 3rd.  Hazel secured a 1st place finish in all five of her races earning a total of 100 points throughout the meet.  Quinn Sperber earned 4th place overall amongst the sophomores and had a remarkable 1st place finish in the 50 Fly.  Shaeffer Rass found her way into 2nd place against the juniors, taking 2nd in each of the five races.  Seniors Kailyn Neville and Chloe Bissen were ranked 3rd and 6th respectively, helping to round out a successful afternoon.  Their next meet is Thursday, August 28th at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA as they host the Bay Conference Relay Meet.
